The Strategic Community Partners Youth Advisory Council (SCP YAC) brings together a bold, talented, and passionate group of youth and young adults from across Michigan’s Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties. The goal of the YAC is to provide youth voice, feedback, and insight on partnerships and initiatives led by SCP and our partners—with and for our community. Council members gain valuable personal and professional development opportunities through council service and monthly workshops and are compensated for their participation.

Mission

The SCP YAC seeks to empower a multi-faceted group of young leaders through hands-on development opportunities and service to their community. Through collaboration with our team and key community stakeholders, the SCP YAC amplifies the perspectives of young people and furthers progress and equity on a range of youth-centered initiatives.

Vision

We envision a world where all youth receive opportunities to share their perspectives, provide guidance and direction for greater community efforts, take action, and influence outcomes in their communities. We are committed to sharing bold thinking, knowledge, resources, skills, and connections with our networks in order to place even more power and knowledge in the hands of youth.

Roles and Responsibilities

From January - December 2022, SCP YAC members will come together to provide feedback and insight on Strategic Community Partners’ partnerships and initiatives. This input will play an important role in shaping SCP’s work and adding additional youth voices to the strategies that help shape the future of our communities.

As part of the council, members will also participate in monthly professional development workshops. During these sessions, members will gain additional exposure to and deepen their understanding of topics such as technology literacy, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, marketing, college and career pathways, positive ways to utilize social media, and more.
