Welcome to the SCP Community Center!

The SCP Community Center is more than just an office space—it's a vibrant, dynamic hub that has become a cornerstone of empowerment and collaboration in Detroit. Since opening its doors in 2015, the center has transcended the traditional notion of workspaces, evolving into a welcoming environment where community organizations, nonprofits, youth, educators, and residents converge to access resources, explore, learn, and engage without financial barriers.

Located in the heart of Detroit’s historic Fitzgerald neighborhood, the SCP Community Center is deeply rooted in a legacy of Black excellence and entrepreneurship that dates back to the mid-19th century. This rich heritage is reflected in every aspect of the center, which stands as a testament to the resilience, innovation, and strength of its community.

With an initial investment of a quarter-million dollars, the center features a robust collection of facilities designed to foster holistic community development and prosperity. The space includes conference rooms, a multi-purpose meeting space, co-working desks, a café and kitchen, and more—each thoughtfully designed to support a wide range of activities and events.

What Does the SCP Community Center Offer?

Floater Coworking Space

Flexible workspace is available to local non-profit organizations and community-based organizations. We do not offer dedicated desks or private office spaces at this time, but our coworking space has the capacity for four organizations with a maximum of two people per organization (eight maximum).

Conference Rooms

The SCP Community Center features two medium-sized conference rooms perfect for off-site meetings and team events. Both rooms feature Smart TVs for projection, movable chairs, and outlets and have a maximum capacity of 8 people.

Event Space

The SCP Community Center is available to rent for private and public events, meetings, and workshops. The space features modular furniture that can be configured into several layouts to fit your event needs.
