BEYOND DIVERSITY: THE CRITICAL NATURE OF EQUITY AND INCLUSION

DAY 3 | WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15

Diversity in any workplace should not be the end goal as it only scratches the surface in what is possible for a dynamic workplace. During this session, Adam Layne lead participants through a process of exploring their understanding of the differences between diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as how organizations can effectively cultivate all three within a workplace environment to catalyze for propelling organizational culture.

SPEAKER

Adam Layne is an education advocate who has been driving toward educational equity in the city of St. Louis. As a Teach For America Corps Member, he taught math for three years at the high school level. In 2014, he joined InspireSTL, an education access and support nonprofit serving students in the city of St. Louis. Adam continues the mission by doing diversity consulting in education and serving as an elected school board member. He currently serves as the Executive Director of his own nonprofit, the Young Griot Society, which increases youth literacy through creative writing. A native of Boston, Adam received his BBA in finance from The George Washington University and his M.Ed. from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
