Share Your Ideas for a Detroit College Access and Success Center

In the fall of 2020, Strategic Community Partners, on behalf of the Jamie and Denise Jacob Family Foundation and in partnership with Detroit Drives Degrees and Detroit College Access Network, collaborated to design and facilitate a feasibility study that was both nationally informed and contextually grounded in Detroit. The outcome of this study will lead to both a strategic implementation plan and, ultimately, the launch of a pilot college access and success center.

Phase I

During the first phase of this study, we engaged in community listening sessions to hear about the current needs, the shifting reality of COVID-19, and the gaps in current community resources as it relates to college success and access. Furthermore, community input provided us with context for what is desired in a college access and success resource center. Click here to see the community input from Phase I.

Phase II

For the next phase of this study, we are seeking feedback from community members and potential college success center users on:

  • The appropriate college success center delivery model

  • How to raise awareness and engagement about  the college success center

  • The type of partnerships needed so that  barriers to college access and success for high school and adult learners are decreased

  • The best marketing and branding strategies to attract users to the college success center

We are seeking to engage with higher education staff and administrators, community-based organizations, high school teachers and educators, parents and family members, and, most importantly, students
