Woman 2 Woman (W2W) is an initiative to empower women to further their professional careers by providing a support network and resources. The initiative focuses its efforts on women overcoming systemic and individual obstacles to employment, breaking cycles of homelessness, abuse, and pandemic-related challenges which have altered the socioeconomic status of a woman's household in a drastically inequitable manner.

Each year, Strategic Community Partners collaborates with a local nonprofit, community organization, or social impact business to provide programming and resources to participants through a multi-week curriculum and 1-on-1 mentoring relationships.

The Beginning

Woman 2 Woman is an initiative rooted in the belief that two women can pour into one another--professionally, personally, civically, and beyond. With two women, great things can be accomplished.

The initiative first came into fruition as a one-day event hosted in a coworking space in Detroit.  Our launch event for this initiative had three key components: a clothing drive; a free pop-up shop and professional networking. Through this event, we saw the power of connectivity - and knew that our journey with Woman 2 Woman couldn’t end here.

2019-2020

SCP launched the next iteration of Woman 2 Woman in 2019 in partnership with Rebel Nell. Fifteen women utilizing resources at COTS Detroit were welcomed to a kickoff session where they were paired with mentors from across the Metro Detroit area. Though the curriculum was cut short as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the cohort still developed meaningful relationships with their mentors, and each other, to help them excel in their future personal and professional goals.

2021

In the third iteration of Women 2 Woman, SCP partnered with the Detroit City Lions Youth Club to facilitate a 4-week mentorship curriculum for young women and girls to discuss social-emotional learning and life skills topics like social group dynamics, body positivity, self-care, and navigating healthy relationships.

Small groups met with adult mentor pod leaders to discuss and learn about centralized themes that impact their day-to-day lives. In addition to their own development experiences, the participating young women also participated in peer mentoring for younger girls in grades K-2 and participated in a culminating mentorship reflection and team-building retreat.
