Community and Education Initiatives Fellow
Alyssa Williams brings an interdisciplinary background in early childhood and higher education, community engagement, feminist studies and social work to her role as Community and Educational Initiatives Fellow. Alyssa is also a newly accepted Challenge Detroit Fellow with a passion for being a part of Detroit’s revitalization .
Prior to joining Strategic Community Partners, Alyssa assisted families as a social worker and facilitated with curriculum creation for the Sexual Assault Prevention Initiative at Eastern Michigan University, where she also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Guest Lecturer. Additionally, she has presented on topics such as diversity and inclusion, overcoming imposter syndrome, activism and organizing, and intersectionality.
Alyssa’s commitment to equity and inclusion, social justice, and intersectional perspective allows her to be an asset to the Strategic Community Partners team. Her experiences working directly with underserved and vulnerable populations, paired with education on theoretical frameworks around societal inequality, provides her with a toolbox of cultural competence and theory.
